Bait

Much is written about Mainline’s legendary boilies, including such greats as Grange, Activ-8 and, currently, Cell, which have dominated waters for many years. However, browse the Essex-based company’s website and you will see that there is so much more to the Mainline range than just boilies. One area where there is a huge selection of bait-boosting products is liquids.

One of my personal favourites is Hempseed Oil. I’ve found Mainline’s to be among the best-quality hemp oils and I use it in a variety of ways, including injected into solid PVA bags just prior to casting. It also makes a great winter glug as it doesn’t congeal in cold water like many other oils. In warmer conditions, Fosoil makes an exception additive to all manner of baits and will create a huge slick when used as a boilie or pellet soak.

Multi-Stim and Meta-Mino are both extremely versatile and can be used as stand-alone liquids or added to boilie mixes to offer baits an extra dimension. One tip that Mainline gives on its website is to combine Multi-Stim with one of the dedicated flavours to form an exceptional winter boilie dip. I remember doing exactly that a few winters ago when first using Cell and it worked brilliantly with Mainline’s Milky Toffee flavour.

One group of liquids that has proven hugely successful is the Particle and Pellet Syrup family. These PVA-friendly liquids come in 500ml bottles with squirty lids and are designed to be added to literally any bait. The potential is almost limitless with the syrups, the only boundary being your imagination. My favourites are the tiger nut and condensed coconut milk versions, but I also love the Activ-8 syrup which, even if you do not use Activ-8 bait, makes a superbly attractive addition to boilies and pellets.
