I was in desperate need of a catty when this landed in the office and had to be tested, so off I went, bait in hand to give it a good go. As far as I was aware a catapult is a catapult, however the Korda Katapult has a few improvements on other products I have used. The ball-joint system that attaches the elastic to the frame, vastly reduces the amount of stress on the elastics, allowing them to last longer even when you exert more pressure on them for ’pulting out larger quantities of bait or baiting at further distance. I have found this catty to be very effective for ranges up to 60 yards and, in my honest opinion, if you want to go further then roll out the throwing stick or spod rod.

TC reader Mike Francis from Hull says: I’ll be honest, when I sent my name in for these Reader Reviews I thought it unlikely that I’d receive anything decent, but when this Krusha was delivered, complete with a note from the editor, I was delighted. I’d wanted one for some time but at nearly 15 quid I felt it too expensive. “Result,” I thought. There’s not much to really say about the Krusha itself.

When our samples of the Kutter (three sizes, 16mm, 20mm and 25mm) first arrived in the office I was eager to give one a go. I had a couple of kilos of boilies that I needed to feed alongside my particle mix but I didn’t want to put them in whole. I opted for the middle-sized Kutter and haven’t looked back since. Chopping these baits into halves was an absolute doddle, saving me a lot of time and wear on my fingers! The compact design allows it to be stored easily in a bait bucket or bag and, with one click, the handle opens out and is ready for use.

I owned one of the original Rig Safes but found it a bit bulky. However, Korda’s newer versions are spot-on. One of these is the Mini Rig Safe Combo and I can’t wait to fill this one with a few rigs of my own. We love this! The smaller size, compared with the bigger Rig Safe, which has also been redesigned, is ideal for storing shorter rigs, up to eight inches, and will hold 30 at a time.

CHECK these OUT! INTERCEPTOR FLOATS Surface floats are by no means a new invention and the missile shape has always been regarded as one of the best floats for casting and providing that super-effective bolt effect. What we like about the new range from Korda are the little touches that make your life easier. Designed to be changed in a matter of seconds you can flit from the smallest of the bunch at 5g right the way through the sizes up until the 80g, so no matter how far the fish move out you can keep a hook bait close to them. A size 11 ring swivel fits perfectly into the nose of the float helping to eradicate tangles when you are casting out, particularly handy when using long hooklengths.

We have all used quick-change swivels of some variety and to great effect, being handy to change rigs in no time at all. However, taking it one step further, the team at Korda has developed the same principle with a crook rather than the conventional elongated eye. Now this may not seem like much, and by no means think we are trying to blow it out of proportion. However, this helps you fish hook links straight off the swivel quickly and with much more movement.

Although I tend to tie my rigs on the bank, to suit the situation that I’m faced with, I do store several dozen short, braided, PVA-bag rigs in a couple of these Rig Safes. Offering infinitely more protection than a traditional rig wallet, the Rig Safe has become extremely popular – and for good reason. There is room inside for plenty of rigs and the three compartments are handy for keeping little terminal bits in. I know loads of people who use one, and a few who should.

PUKKA!If choosing the right mono line is confusing, then it’s equally, if not more so, the case with braided lines. Although there isn’t the huge range of braids, compared with monos, they vary hugely from one to another. Sinking, floating, round, flat, fine diameter, multi filaments and plenty of other descriptions abound. In SUBbraid, Korda has painstakingly developed a braided line that sinks like a stone and, while it’s not as thin as traditional casting braids, isn’t quite so wide diametered as many sinking versions.

Marc Coulson’s verdict. . . Excellent sinking braid and not silly money.
