Korda Subbraid

Marc Coulson’s verdict... Excellent sinking  braid and not silly money. 5/5

It’s been a few years since I used braided main line, although I’m not sure why because I used to swear by them. The last sinking version I used was probably Nash Bullet, about six years ago, but more recently Elliott Gray recommended this, so I thought I’d spool up and give it a go.

On to my small-water setup it went (sinking braid is not suited to long-range fishing) and I’ve now used it around half a dozen times and love it. It sinks, and quickly, settling evenly over any bottom, depending how slack it is fished, and on the retrieve you can literally feel it climbing up through the water. Stretch is zero, which makes playing a carp quite hairy if you’re not used to it, but the advantage is in superb bite indication and complete contact with the carp. There are two size spools (450 metres in 15lb and 20lb breaking strain) which are not cheap but it lasts far longer than any mono. (MC)
