Taska Hook Sharpening File

It’s important to have a sharp hook. I want a fish to pick up my hook bait and be hooked straightaway.

I have been using the Taska Flat File for some time and I have to say that I am impressed with the results. I don’t like to heavily sharpen my hooks but a bit of a touch-up after landing a carp can’t go amiss. The V-grooves are handy in ensuring that the hook keeps its round file and, as a consequence, there is a lot more room for error, especially if you are new to hook sharpening.

There is also a stone to further touch up you hook points. However, I feel that there is no need and you can sometimes do too much and reduce the hook’s efficiency. One criticism of a lot of hook-sharpening products is their bulky nature but the Flat File fits easily into my tackle box without taking up much room.

If you want to get into hook sharpening, then check out these files, they are ideal for beginners or experienced anglers alike.
