Taska 13.9 Edition Stainless

A recent trip to Taska’s impressive Essex HQ saw one or two of the TC boys salivating at a number of new products, many of which will have just been launched by the time this magazine goes out.

There will be plenty more coverage of many of the innovative rig bits over future issues, but we picked out the new 13.9 Edition stainless range, and some interesting new bobbins, for special attention.
At first sight, the stainless is nothing out of the ordinary, but when you pick it up you’re immediately struck by the weight, or rather the lack of it. They’re extremely lightweight, yet remain chunky and rugged throughout.
There are two styles, a standard version that features traditional threaded heads, and then one that boasts a patented adjustable locking collar. This is really neat and not only grips your alarm or hockey stick, but also allows simple, one-touch alignment of the alarms themselves.
The system by which both models of banksticks extend is also really neat. Less than a quarter of a turn of the knurled collar releases and locks the inner pole. This is really easy to use and is extremely effective.
The 13.9mm diameter (that’s where the name comes from) sits between slim and chunky stainless styles and is extremely pleasing on the eye.
The banksticks are available in six, nine, 12 and 16in lengths with buzz bars available in fixed and adjustable two and three-rod versions, depending on the style. There are also snag ears, back rests and stabilisers available, and a brand-new pod on the way.
Finally, Taska’s new bobbins are well worth a mention. Featuring a unique clip system, they’re perfectly suited to slack-line fishing. However, unlike some specialist slack-line bobbins they also work perfectly when fishing more conventionally. They’re superbly well made and we reckon they’re going to be extremely popular.
