Now one of the most popular baiting tools there is, the Spomb is fantastic for several reasons. Firstly they are aerodynamic, making them fantastic to cast even in a crosswind. Spillage on the cast is also non-existent and allows you to feed any baits without fear of losing any. Maggots, boilies and even dog biscuits can be easily used with the Spomb.

Having been sent some of the newer midi versions for the Eric’s Carp Championship match, I had the chance to give them a really thorough test. Well, 1,000 Spombs later and it’s safe to say it’s not faltered one bit and I am able to accurately use it over 100 yards with little effort.

Initially I struggled with the large Spomb at range as its heavy weight was harder to get moving. The midi, however, is the perfect weight for me. It handles every bait, from loose boilies to a sloppy mix. Retrieve is also great and it aquaplanes across the surface of the lake with little resistance.

As of yet I haven’t found any issues and I will continue to use the midi Spomb for baiting up as there is nothing better available. (MH)
