Delkim Smart Clip

Although I have written a similar Used & Abused review in the past, in the months that followed I continued to use these in my fishing and got to know exactly how they work. I would never go back to a conventional line clip because the Smart Clip truly offers versatility that no other clip ever could.
Firstly, they are absolutely universal and can fit to any rod and works with any alarm and bobbin combination, not just those from Delkim. They are extremely easy to fit and remove, via a simple rubber ‘O’ ring that is looped around the blank. This also allows the clip to be moved along and, crucially, around the blank. I say crucially because I make a point of sliding mine around the back of the blank when casting to stop any line catching on it.

The twin arms work as a conventional clip might, but in duo, so you get even more scope in terms of setting the line. You can fish a slack line from the alarm, yet from the bobbin to the reel it can be kept nice and tight.

By moving the clip towards the alarm and using the running system you can virtually negate the entire weight of the bobbin. This might sound odd, but what it gives you is the ability to get bite indication without the carp feeling any resistance from the line and bobbin because it all runs smoothly through the clip’s main body, which houses a ball-bearing setup.

Okay, it’s still only a line clip but the Delkim Smart Clip has definitely been one of my favourite items this year and, as I said, I wouldn’t consider using anything else right now.

5/5 “The ultimate line clip for perfect indication.”
