Wychwood C 101 Rods

I’ve said it many times before, but it still amazes me just how good modern carp rods are in this price range and this C-101 from Wychwood is no exception.

I remember, not all that long ago, when a rod with this spec would probably cost £100 or more, but with trickle-down technology it’s no longer the case.
Built on a Japanese carbon blank, the C-101 feels relatively crisp (we’ve tested the 3.25lb version) and tip recovery is more than acceptable, never forgetting the price tag.
Build-wise, cork handles, understated graphics, matt finish and discreet ringing give the rods a modern look and the etched butt grip is a nice finishing touch to further give the impression of a rod far more expensive than it is.
There are four 12ft models in the range, namely 2.5lb, 2.75lb, 3lb and 3.25lb, the latter two boasting 50mm butt rings. When looking at the price of carp rods I always multiply it by two or three because we seldom buy single rods. With this in mind, I’d happily recommend these to anybody with no more than £200 to spend on a set of three and, with Wychwood’s lifetime warranty offering peace of mind, you’d do well to check them out.
