Sonubaits Salty Nut Crush Range

When Sonubaits front man Ian Day visited TC Towers recently, we were intrigued by samples of a new project that he’s been working hard on. The new Salty Nut Crush range of baits provoked instant curiosity among the team and this is a relatively rare occurrence because we see so many new products, especially in terms of supposedly new bait concepts.
Ian has managed to create a completely unique profile to the range of baits that bear the Salty Nut Crush name. This is mainly due to the exclusive peanut flour that has been sourced. It’s so exclusive that not only has it never been imported to the UK for use in baits, but not even in any human foods either!

Essentially, it is super-finely ground, human-grade roasted peanuts. Peanuts are incredible baits; in fact, several big-name anglers would rate KP Dry Roasted Peanuts in their top three carp baits ever.

As effective as they are at catching carp, the main problem faced is that many lakes have banned their use. This is due to the potential risk of them not being prepared properly or used in excessive quantities, which can cause harm to the fish. This new range is packed with all the attractive properties of peanuts, and much more, but you can rest assured that the fish can only benefit from eating it.

It’s not just the peanut flour that makes this bait so good either. The effectiveness, and indeed popularity, of desiccated coconut has not been ignored. There’s plenty added to the powdered mix, with an even finer consistency than normal, almost like that of sand, instead of the more familiar coarse flakes. As if the mix wasn’t already packed with proven carp-catching ingredients, the inclusion of lots of tiger-nut flour will certainly add to the appeal.

This combination of peanut, coconut and tiger nut gives a well-rounded creamy/nutty profile. The aroma alone is quite special. Also, because they are all added as finely ground powders, all the inherent attraction is much more soluble, with the various oils and general food signals leaking out much stronger than if they were whole or chopped nuts. The final ingredient is finely ground rock salt, which is a great natural enhancer of the already naturally salty mix.

The range consists of the Flavour Shaker, which is 100 per cent the four ingredients just outlined. Surely a superb addition to literally any bait. The groundbait is Sonubait’s highly acclaimed fishmeal mix, which has had a whole jar of the Flavour Shaker added to make a superb fishmeal/nut combination. The pellets follow a similar theme, likewise without any artificial preservatives.

Basically, the fishmeal carp pellets are tossed in golden syrup then rolled in the Flavour Shaker powder until they are completely coated. A few hours later and the porous pellets have absorbed the sticky coating. The liquid is superb too. Put simply, it’s the same pungent powder combination mixed with a liquid carrier, which has the effect of making the attraction even more soluble, especially in cold water.

This new range has certainly caught our eye and we’re definitely looking forward to putting some to the test in the coming months. We suggest you do the same before the secret gets out!
