Sonik Nct Rods

Short for Nano-Carbon Technology, NCTs are Sonik’s first foray into the high-end rod market.

They certainly look the part and the details gained from Sonik’s Ian McCormack were just as impressive.

“The rod blank is the key feature. A completely new type of carbon is used, boasting a decrease in the amount of resin, while maintaining reliable strength,” explained Ian. “This development also makes the rods noticeably slimmer and lighter, giving them a classy feel.”

Despite the slim look, these are incredibly durable and a fantastic casting tool in the right hands.”

In 2011, following extensive development, Sonik succeeded in producing its first sea fishing rod with NCT. The Shore Rod was an instant hit with the top distance casters of the beach-casting fraternity, so Sonik decided that it was high time it expanded this new technology across its entire range.

The blank of the carp rods is set to make as big an impact on the carp fishing casting scene. A big plus point of the blank is the fast tip recovery. Even after ‘giving it the beans’ there’s minimal tip bounce to contend with. This will go a long way to ensuring greater accuracy at range.

To maximise efficiency Sonik has kept with the high-end theme by ensuring the blank’s fittings are of equal quality. Lightweight SiC guides feature, with all versions bar the 2.75lb test curve fitted with 50mm butt rings as standard.

A custom graphite reel seat with machined collars looks great and will keep those reels locked tight too.

Subtle, blue detailing around the reel seat and a laser-etched butt cap round these rods off nicely. It’s certainly an understated look, yet they definitely have a lot to shout about. If you weren’t already sold, Sonik’s ‘Rapidex’ lifetime warranty for the original owner will ensure peace of mind for years to come.
