Reuben Heaton Specimen Hunter Scales

I’ve had two sets of Reubens over the years, having left a set on the car park at Linear Fisheries some time back, but the replacements (which I had stamped with the TC logo at the time) have been my scales of choice ever since.
They’re the classic dial scales, mine reading from 0 to 60lb (if only) in 1oz increments, so are extremely easy to read. They did have a small light in them originally (a few were made at the time) but that has long since given up the ghost. However, the newer versions have a more discreet and reliable light in them, making them easy to read at night.

I have had them checked and recalibrated once (in six years), and they’ve never lost an ounce since. I often weigh my fish on mine and my friends’ scales and they always match – unless any of my mates’ scales are wrong, of course! They’re also extremely easy to zero before weighing, so I can literally have no complaints whatsoever with them.

Despite how old mine are, the Specimen Hunter scales are still in the Reuben range, among several others, the majority of which are available in nearly all good tackle shops.

Marc’s verdict: Simply the best!
