Loads of quality bait still to shift in clearance sale. One of Europe’s best selling bait manufacturers, DD Baits, have teamed up with Scunthorpe based tackle giant Chapmans to offer clearance bait at vastly reduced prices. The move comes following DD Baits announcement that it is planning to launch a new bait range for 2013, and as a consequence have cleared out its old stock. Chapmans boss, Mark Wilkinson explained: “We have been selling this clearence bait for a couple of months now - but due to the cold weather we still have loads left for anglers to stock up on! One of the advantages of being one of the bigger retailers in the business is that we have considerable buying power – and when DD baits announced that they were wanting to clear all its stock we jumped at the chance of taking it off there hands.

Three rods could be allowed on one licence. Carp anglers could soon have good cause to celebrate, as it has been announced that the Environment Agency is considering allowing up to three rods to be used on just one licence. In the current system, anglers are required to buy an additional licence if they want to fish with any more than the current limit of two rods per permit. This has caused a nuisance to carp and specimen anglers who fish waters where three rods are allowed – as they have to buy two licences, effectively doubling the cost.

Angler nets £1,000,000 Euromillions prize! A keen angler from Hythe won’t need to talk about the ‘one that got away’ after his EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle ticket returned a whopping £1,000,000 in the draw on Tuesday 12 February. And unbelievably, the win comes almost 21 years after his dad won £250,000 on the Pools. Despite being on holiday, factory worker Ron Warne (46), was up early on Wednesday morning digging for fishing bait on the beach at Hythe completely unaware that he was the town’s newest millionaire. Cold and miserable he was bemoaning his freezing cold feet and grumbling that he was going to have to find the money to buy some new thermal boots; little did he know that he could afford the very best boots on the market.
