Iain McMillan enjoys best season ever. Dynamite Baits-backed ace Iain McMillan has built on what he considers to be his best season ever – by banking a giant 52lb 4oz mirror from Wellington Country Park. Iain has been experiencing one of his best seasons ever, landing numerous fish over 35lb in recent weeks. It all started with a session at prolific carp water Farriers, where he landed a new PB for the water – a stunning 41lb common.

Splashbaits field tester nets giant grass carp. SplashBaits field tester Christian Jakobsen has only been with the company for five months, but has already made a massive impact in Denmark with the catches he has been having. On his last session, he banked this monster grass carp. The giant fish weighed 33lb 8oz, and took Christian a massive 30 minutes to land.

Stalking approach yields big prize for Essex man. Essex ace Richie Lofthouse enjoyed a session to remember last week, when he stalked and then successfully landed a 35lb 4oz mirror, after changing his approach on a difficult session. Richie explained: “I arrived at the lake as usual late on Friday evening. The lake was really busy, as you would expect at this time of year, so I ended up doing a quick night in an unfavoured swim.

Fishing app in tackle prize giveaway. Starting today, all members of the Fishing UK app will be rewarded for their efforts with the chance to win some great tackle prizes. Members will be given points for completing certain tasks within the app. Luke Webb, who is a co owner of the app explained: "Anglers will win three points for posting in a forum, three points for uploading a photo, three for a tip, four for a venue review, and eight for referring a friend and posting information to Facebook or Twitter!"We all know that points mean prizes, and the member at the top of the in-app leaderboard at the end of every month will win a great selection of prizes including baits from CC Moores, a bobbin head set and sticker from Bespoke Bobbins, Some respectable leads from Carp Rigs and some lovely smelling boilies from Xcel Baits.

New initiative reports boom in membership. Carp Team PL was established in May 2011 in the UK under the initiative of Polish carp angling enthusiasts with the aims of promoting catch-and-release carp fishing and introducing Polish carp anglers living in the UK to each other. The Carp Team are really excited to be able to learn about UK angling techniques and to fish at the best UK waters and this positive attitude is gradually changing the way Carp Team PL are perceived by UK anglers. Carp Team PL are now receiving plenty of great feedback about their activities and have achieved this through fishing within and promoting UK angling laws, customs and byelaws and by participating in angling charity events.

Fishery day showcases latest gear in action. The Total Fishing Tackle open weekend is set to take place June 8th and 9th, 2013. The weekend will be held at Birds Green Fishery near Ongar in Essex. For the seventh year running, the whole event is free, and is bigger and better than ever before!The weekend event is a bit different from your average tackle shop open day, because it takes place on a fishery – a real bonus for on-the-bank demonstrations.

Bag bait accounts for Norfolk giant. Korda ace Pete Castle has banked a 39lb 2oz scaly mirror from his Norfolk Syndicate Lake. Having not wet a line since Christmas, Pete was itching to get amongst some carp, and managed to sneak a day session that yielded the giant. Fox puts three-hour ‘Edges’ DVD on YouTubeTackle giant Fox has added its full-length Edges DVD to YouTube. The state-of-the-art film features French carp in excess of 80lb, and British carp to over 50lb. A press release from the company explained: “At just shy of three hours, the DVD is packed with plenty of action and lots of tips and tactics to help you get the most out of our Edges range of terminal tackle. The DVD has been filmed over a six-month period on many venues and follows the Fox consultants as they test the Edges products.

New Dr Weils product helps protect fish from disease. Dr Weils, maker of a hand and surface sanitiser for people, has come up with a product aimed at protecting carp and specimen fish, too. Carp Skin is claimed to be an advanced, safe and cost-effective method of treating wounds and abrasions on fish, on the bank. Users just dry the affected area with a clean cloth, then spray on the antibacterial, pharmaceutical-grade film skin.
