New forum puts the questions to the experts. A new angling forum is to be launched next Monday, giving users the chance to have their questions answered by the best names in the business. The aptly name ‘Angling Answers’ has sections for carp, match, coarse, sea and fly anglers – and is powered by DHP Ltd, Europe’s largest independent publisher of fishing magazines. The forum is the brainchild of DHP’s Operations Director Roger Mortimer, who has seen similar forums working well in other sectors, and noticed a gap for a technical and tactical-based forum in the angling market.

Nash Junior Consultant and prolific carp catcher Alfie Russell raised a few eyebrows when he bagged this stunning 43lb 8oz common. What makes this capture special is the fish was caught from a southern park lake and was previously unknown and possibly uncaught. Alfie, aged 14, had spent two days walking the venue and tracking down the resident carp, before making the effort to introduce bait several times before he wet a line. Targetting a shallow bay, he introduced a mixture of 15mm Monster Squid Boilies and sweetcorn on his baiting trips.

Geert Ooms has landed one of his target fish, this impressive 60lb-plus dark mirror. The fish was taken using Solar Tackle’s new Seafood Take-Away boilies. Geert takes up the story: “With a two-day spell of warmer weather set to break the monotony of the wet, cold weather in Belgium I was itching to get out to my target water. Unable to get the time off work, though, it wasn’t until the day after this warm spell that I could eventually head out.

Terry Dempsey on landing his PB common“When I put my glasses on, it turned the surface of the lake from a silver sheet into a transparent window, beneath which I could see gravel bars, and dark shapes moving around. There is no doubt in my mind that without my Fortis Eyewear, I wouldn’t have had half as much success over the last few weeks. “These were the words of Terry Dempsey, who has just enjoyed a brilliant run of form – including the capture of his new personal best common carp, at a weight of 42lb 8oz. Terry explained: “Being able to identify the shallow, gravelly areas of my Kent target water were vital – and the excellent subsurface vision offered by the Fortis glasses made this a doddle.

30lb 8oz Grassy Falls To Factor VII! The giant carp pictured was captured by Swedish angler Richard Tamanko from a lake he owns called Egla Damm. A few weeks ago he spotted carp moving there but did not know exactly what or how big the fish were. He rigged up a combi rig with a single Factor VII freezer bait, and tipped it with a bit of corn. After 10 minutes he got a run and landed this massive grass carp, which brought the scales to 30lb 8oz.
