If you want to boost the attraction of your hook bait just moments before casting out then you might want to take a closer look at this pungent spray, aptly named Stinky Stuff. The handy aerosol is filled with an intriguingly pongy attractor that literally coats your bait with fish-pulling draw and, as anybody who has got some on their hands or clothing will testify, it stays on the bait for ages. In fact, we would advise using gloves it’s that strong. Results on the match scene have already been phenomenal and the product is now being targeted at carp anglers.

When asked to test the Gardner Muggas it didn’t take long to report back – I have been using them for as long as I can remember. Whether I’m using the size 12 for zig fishing or the size 6 for bottom baits, I am 100 per cent confident in their hooking potential. With an inturned eye and a sweeping, curved shank, as soon as the hook link is straightened the hook flips and takes hold. The hook-holds have been confidence inspiring; they also don’t require the addition of shrink tubing to create an aggressive rig.
As an avid user of solid bags, I am aware of the need for a supple hook link that will act as naturally as possible. Sink Link is super-supple, allowing me to neatly pack it into a PVA bag. The inner fibres are woven nicely and there seems to be no problem with fraying when I cut it. I favoured the brown version for my bag rigs, yet like to use the green Sink Link as the supple section when tying combi rigs.
The fruity aroma of the Essential IB is fantastic and I’ve found it to be an instant bait on busy day-ticket waters. Although these are shelf-life baits, I appreciate the resealable packaging that helps keen them in tiptop condition. It also allows me to take home what I don’t use – waste not, want not!I have also used them on a local canal and enjoyed similar success. Because shelf-life baits are slightly firmer than freezer baits I also found them not to take on too much of the stinky, silty smell when using them on the turgid canal bottom.
