Designed to be true all-rounders, I can confirm that they are exactly this, and brilliant at it too.


I’ve been using the 2.75lb versions and, excluding fishing at 100 yards plus, I can’t think of any reason why I would not continue to do so. The progressive, through action is right up my street and it makes for an exhilarating fight every time a carp is hooked. There’s plenty of power in the butt, though, so I get the feeling that if I need it there is still power in reserve.

The ranger XTS makes light work of medium-range casting and feels nice and crisp in the recovery. I have noticed an improvement in accuracy too, which speaks volumes for the blank. Finally, and importantly, the looks and detailing are understated and classy. This is a fabulous all-round rod at a price that many can afford.
