Shiny new gear unveiled at the Tackle & Guns Trade Show!
The gates have opened on the 2013 Tackle & Guns Trade Show, with plenty of exciting tackle and bait innovations unveiled to the trade. The show, which enables tackle and gun manufacturers to showcase their latest products and innovations, is used by many companies to launch their product ranges for the coming year. Dozens of top brands have been in attendance, and we have been there to give you a sneak preview of what you can expect to see in the shops over coming months.

If you are a sucker for top quality reels, you will love the new Ultegra XTB from the Shimano stable. Manufactured from a revolutionary material that is said to be lighter than plastic and stronger than steel, the reel offers unbelievable value, and performance that has to be seen to be believed. The new Tribal XTR range is also well worth a look, if you are in the market for hardwearing luggage, that looks the part and offers great value for money.

Dynamite Baits have launched a new range of Red Ammo boilies, which are set to take the market by storm. Based around the same proven recipe as the ultra successful ‘Monster Tigernut’ baits, the Red Ammo baits also benefit from added fruit palatants – and have already yielded some quite remarkable results. Available in 1kg bags, up to 5kg bags, and in Freezer Life and Shelf Life products, the baits are set to be a real hit over the next 12 months.

Korum’s Matt Woods was signing the praises of the company’s new ‘One Man Carper’ bivvy. This innovative, lightweight product is sure to prove a big hit among specimen anglers, as it offers a lightweight product (weighing under 6kg) that folds completely flat, thanks to a Y bracket mechanism – which allows the bivvy to be erected without any tension in the supporting bars. Retailing at around £130, this really is a must see release if you are in the market for a new bivvy.

Avid Carp’s new DSK range of rods were creating quite a stir. Media manager, Jason Umney explained: “Our aim in creating the DSK range was to combine fish playing action with casting ability – and what we have come up with allows anglers to comfortably cast long distance, while maintaining a forgiving playing action, which should all but eradicate fish losses under the rod tip. The rods also benefit from the new Fuji K Series guides, with their new Anti Frapp technology which prevents tangles and wrapovers.”

As expected, Fox international hosted one of the busiest stands of the show, and their new one man bivvy seemed to be proving a particular attraction. Designed to provide great quality at a very reasonable price, the bivvy is quick to assemble thanks to a pram type structure, but also offers great comfort and stability.

Quality tackle and bait manufacturer Pallatrax were in attendance, promoting the launch of their new Winter Almond bait range, which boasts boilies, glugs, oversprays, popups and squabs. With products starting from just £3.50, these are expected to be massive sellers over coming months.

Nash’s stand looked particularly impressive, showcasing a spectacular range of tackle. Stand out products include a new range of two piece carp rods, designed for travelling light. These were attracting loads of attention from the punters – watch this space for more information soon.

The new silverware from Chub also proved a talking point for many, in the shape of the company’s new Precision Lite range. This includes banksticks, stabilisers, buzz bars and a sturdy base, and looks great without breaking the bank.

Show owner David Hall commented: “It’s great to see such a good turnout, and the vibe coming from both exhibitors and visitors has been extremely positive. We have enjoyed a good summer, and continued mild weather has led to good trade for many over the last few months. We are all hopeful that the upturn in trade will continue and, all in all, the mood here is very good.”

Show organiser Roger Mortimer added: “You can judge the success of a show by how busy the organisers are while the show is in progress. We have had a boring time here in the organiser's office since the show opened, which means things must be going well!”
