The first issue of 2025 is here!

Welcome to a brand-new year! January can sometimes feel a bit anti-climactic in life but in carp fishing you have most of the worst behind you and all the best ahead of you.

We have loads planned for what’s looking like an exciting 2025, with new regular articles from different anglers inbound and more of the same ones you all love, including Ian Russell’s Troubleshooter, Oz Holness’ Reflections of Success, Inside the Mind from Matt Eaton, and many more.

To the long-term readers, you would have seen Matt Townend sign off this part of the magazine for many years before I took the reins and you may remember Joe Palethorpe too; well, this month they made welcome return appearances, where we all got out on a bit of a social and things went rather well…

We also got out with Hassan Khan over at Esnes Quarry Lake to have a look at his deep-water tactics, where he caught a blinding fully scaled carp! An action-packed session with Neil Spooner over on Norton Disney saw him catch so many carp that we couldn’t fit them all in!
All in all, it’s been a hectic month but as always, the mag is packed with information to help keep your angling proficiency on the rise.

ON THE COVERCold Water Consistency
Kicking off 2025 with a 40-pounder is Tom Maker, and here he takes us through his winter baiting mix. Tom has a vast range of knowledge when it comes to catching carp and his baiting strategy is something you do not want to miss!

This month, Simon Crow leads towards his final piece with a talk about rigs, and why his simple approach suits him, and why after he changed to a more technical rig he found himself shaking his head – jump into this month’s piece to find out more.

Usually when you think of Hassan it’s for his time on the Nash Tackle ‘Off The Hook’ podcast – many of you have listened to hours of him extracting information from guests, this month it was his turn to be the other side of it where we followed him for 24 hours. It’s not true that he only has a face for radio!

Spooner is a man we’d hazard a guess that you all know, you may have seen him on our cover last month and he returns this month for a look at his approach to fishing in January and February. He’s often spoken about catching a carp every month of the year and this year we’ve set him the challenge to do just that!
