The March issue of Total Carp is here!
Can we finally say it? Spring is around the corner! Soon the smell of barbecues will be rife, the sight of more carp in the bottom of your net, brighter nights, longer days and bags of opportunity to be had! Now it gets good!
This month, we’ve been all over the UK and even over to Belgium for this one, for a Carp Arena visit with none other than Rob Burgess for an absolute masterclass of angling. Rob will no doubt be making more Total Carp appearances this coming season and it was only right we kicked off with a mega 40lb-plus mirror for the cover shot, which I can only assume you have already seen if you have got this far.
Mark Holmes is back after a short break away with more of his insightful ways of thinking to hopefully help you catch a few more carp, and Spooner has also been on his travels; this month he brings some behind the scenes updates from Croatia and South Africa. Oli Davies photographs what could potentially be the next British record only a matter of weeks after I spoke about it last month, could we see this year a long-standing record broken for the first time in nearly a decade?
As we are coming to that time of year with ticket renewals, Matt Eaton talks about picking the right water for you. Scotty K and Lewis Read join us from the Thinking Anglers stable and much more in terms of hints, tips, tricks and advice.
In Gear we have a full stock of products that have had our full rundown, the Sailvvay C series, all-singing, all-dancing bait boat is up along with the Trakker Propel retractable rods. Jake becomes a fashion guru as the Vass Culture tracksuit gets a full Used & Abused review and we take a sneak peek at the new Fortis waterproofs – we hope you don’t need them, but it’s better to be safe than… wet?
We hope you enjoy, tight lines and be lucky!
What's Hot This Monrth...
Burgess in BelgiumRob hasn’t been in the mag for quite some time, but it’s safe to say he made an entrance, an absolute masterclass out in Belgium that saw him land 11 carp – sounds impressive already, until you find out he was only fishing one rod for most of the trip!
Big Carp MindsetWe meet up with Mark Holmes for a long overdue catch-up as he talks us through all things cold weather, including a rather interesting theory about freezing lakes moving his lead.
A carp a monthSpooner has been all over the globe this month, from South Africa to Croatia, where we see him land some mega carp. He seems to have got the hang of singling the bigger fish out over the years, we aren’t sure how he does it!
In-and-out businessScotty is a man with a plan! Coming off the back of a few years with very limited time he is granted the wish of a night a week, mid-week! Here he talks prebaiting, time management and most of all how he executes these in-and-out sessions around a busy family life. Sounds familiar to you all we imagine. Scotty not only has all this to contend with but he’s doing it all on Dinton! Is he insane? Read on to find out!
Reflections of successGearing up for the spring, Oz’s feature this month is aptly named The Hunting Season, reflecting back on some rather successful springs gone by. Keeping in line with our talks about British records over in Oli Davies’ feature, ironically this one features a former British record, the mighty Two Tone.
