Sonik VaderX Pro Carbon Reel

The VaderX range from Sonik is somewhat of a revelation, as not only is each and every product affordable, but their supreme performance heavily outweighs the modest price tag.

With the announcement of the highly anticipated VaderX Pro 10000 Carbon reel, the ethos of the brand continues in fine style and is very much a contender for the best reel Sonik has ever produced. Besides the tasteful design of this big pit, which sports a brushed carbon, raw finish to the body, it is also astoundingly lightweight too! Just 510g to be precise, and this is largely achieved from the body and rotor being constructed from carbon. Therefore you have the best of both worlds with a wonderfully durable and light reel that suits fishing at long range on the most demanding of venues.

Straight out of the box your eye may be drawn to the honeycomb spool, which several other reels do feature, yet the VaderX Pro Carbon has removed more metal than ever before, which makes total sense for weight saving on any reel. The spool features two spring loaded line clips on either side for fishing spots with extreme accuracy.

Underneath the spool is where you will locate the floating line guard, preventing the unfortunate event of line trapping underneath when battling a monster of the deep. Fans of quick drag systems will also be overjoyed to learn that Sonik has installed its very own precise carbon drag system, whereby the reel can go from locked up to free spool in just half a turn.

As a Pro reel, every little detail has been considered and this also applies to the styling and finish of the anodised aluminium handle, which has been paired with a dark wooden handle knob. This leads nicely on to the eight ball bearings that provide a buttery smooth retrieve, and in fact for every turn of the handle you will be able to retrieve over one metre of line. Not only is this perfect for long distance work but the wormshaft gearing ensures that all line is loaded back on to the spool perfectly. As we know, great line lay offers far better casting performance. Should you need to tinker with the line lay, you can do so with the supplied adjustment washers. Depending on the thickness of line it is possible to load up to 480 metres of 0.30mm down to 270 metres of 0.40mm for more challenging terrain.
