Jrc Stealth Bloxx Compact

We first came across the Bloxx system last year and were impressed with the speed with which it can be erected, literally one of the quickest around in our experience.

The system revolves around a central block with the ribs leading from it. This opens to allow the ribs to splay (it’s simple and the poles never have to be manoeuvred to open them up). The front two poles are then secured under tension and that’s it. The result is an extremely well-tensioned shelter, which is as sturdy as you’d ever expect when pegged out.

The original Bloxx boasted plenty of internal space, along with its versatile combination of front panel options. However, some anglers, sold with the concept but finding this one a little big for their needs, wanted something smaller. JRC took heed and has this year introduced the compact version, ideal for the brolly angler or those who want something more in terms of protection but without the need to lug huge shelters around.

Despite the ‘compact’ tag, internal dimensions remain ample for a bedchair (even the wider ones) and the kind of kit that most anglers take, although if you’re one of the kitchen sink brigade then look at the original, not this one.

No member of the Total Carp team has actually used one of these on the bank as yet, but I’m sure that one of us will do so in time. Sometimes we are asked to test products that we personally wouldn’t choose to use in our own fishing, and bivvies are regularly one of those item that Dan and I are happy for the other one to test!

Nevertheless, it’s a sound indictment of the Stealth Bloxx Compact that both of us are actually wanting to be the one who uses and abuses it. (MC)
