April issue on sale now!

Spring has finally sprung and once again things are back on the up. April… it can be a fickle time of year, but by now the carp will certainly be active as light hours rapidly increase. Whether you’re fishing a busy day ticket or a tough syndicate water, spring carp very much have one thing on their mind and that is warmth. Get things right and this can be a productive month on the carp fishing calendar, so keep those eyes open, get out there and catch them!

To learn how to make the most of this time of year, we’ve got some great advice from our TC regulars. Ian Russell shares his day-ticket tactics with this month’s Troubleshooter client, Elliott Gray reveals how opportunist fishing is the way to go in spring and Ian Chillcott explains his thoughts on weather. This issue also includes some great tactical insights for Big Carp fishing from Jim Wilson in his Eureka Moments, day-session tips from Bonesy, plus of course the usual ups and downs of day-ticket carping we’ve all come to expect from Luke Vallory – he even managed another snow carp this month!

As well as all the great carpy content, plus the latest gear reviews, we’ve also got part two of our guide to the best UK day-ticket waters. With another 53 venues to try, you certainly won’t struggle for waters this year! The booklet includes five brilliant venue guides from top anglers, with their tips and feature maps too.

EDITOR’S TOP APRIL PICKS

OPPORTUNIST ANGLE

Elliott Gray explains why opportunist angling will change your angling – sounds interesting? Find out how… With the weather well and truly on the up, this information could be the key to making this spring your best one yet!

THE TROPICAL ROAD TRIP

In this penultimate article of the long-standing Road Trip series, Alan Blair reflects back on quite possibly his favourite Road Trip to date; an amazing family holiday to Thailand and the Jurassic Mountain resort. It’s carp fishing… just much, MUCH, BIGGER!

UNDERWATER TEST TAPES

Following the success of Korda’s latest Underwater Test Tapes where Danny Fairbrass lands the biggest carp caught on an underwater film, we were keen to find out more about his winning rig. Fancy using this in your own fishing – learn how to tie the rig inside.

TROUBLESHOOTING

It was a real red-letter session for Ian Russell as he joins client Phil Copps to reveal his go-to tactics for pressured day-ticket carp. With a trio of 30lb carp under his belt by the end of the session, it’s safe to say that those tactics worked a treat.

QUEST FOR A DAY-TICKET FORTY

Luke Vallory heads for his first ever session to Suffolk Water Park in search of a day-ticket forty. It’s a tricky session once again, as he faces hordes of bream, gale force winds, and even snow! However this isn’t enough to deter him and somehow, just somehow, he pulls it out of the bag once more!

EUREKA MOMENTS

With an album full of incredible carp, we were keen to hear what five key Eureka Moments changed Jim Wilson’s fishing for the better! If you’re longing to catch those big, rarely caught.
