PUKKA! Marc Coulson’s verdict: Some of the best bankware I have ever used. 5/5! One of the things I love about being out on features is checking out any tackle bits and bobs that the anglers are using. Not necessarily from their sponsors, because I’d expect them to use their kit, but other bits that might stand out and are being used purely because the angler rates it, not because he has to do so. Last year, when at Wraysbury with Ian Russell, I was struck by his bankware.

I use the Resolute hard anodised aluminium bankware and absolutely love it. So when this pod came to my attention I just had to get one in for a closer look. It’s compact, very compact in fact, and its simple design is both functional and extremely robust, yet despite its simplicity I think it looks great too, especially with rods on. There is a ‘standard’ version as well but, brilliantly, CAS will actually custom build them to your spec, including spirit levels and bobbin threads that can be integrated.

Full black bankware is really in vogue at the moment. Cygnet has developed its new range with a view to making it fully interchangeable with all of the banksticks and extras in the range. Made from powder-coated or anodised aluminium, the durable finish looks great on the bank. All of the fitments have been upgraded to be more durable and stronger.

20/20 SNUGS GOAL POSTSome say I’m a tackle tart, others state I have OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) but all I know is that I cannot spend my time behind wonky rods and alarms. I know it won’t make me catch any more carp; well I couldn’t catch any less! It simply drives me mad. I want my setup to look cocked and ready, not like I have just tipped over my barrow and left the contents where they fell. Having taken the 20/20 Snugs Goal Post system out on my last outing it was a joy to be able to obtain a level and neat three-rod setup with minimal fuss and effort.

These aluminium buzz bars are chunky, strong and have a quality black powder-coated finish that looks smart. They are available in a range of sizes, from 81/2in to 111/2in, and are suitably named Snugs because they are all designed to give your setup that ‘shoulder to shoulder’ look that has become popular among tackle tarts. RRP: £12. 99FOR MORE DETAILS GO TO: www.

I’ve been testing the Short & Stumpy banksticks in conjunction with the three-rod extendable buzz bars and Quicklock butt rests and, to date, they’ve performed as well as anything I’ve used in the past. I like that the buzz bars have milled-flat internal rods so that they do not twist annoyingly when being extended. I’ve been using the nine to 16in bars and the 12 to 22in sticks, but they’re also available in other lengths and combinations. My favourite items are the Quicklock butt rests.

When a rod pod is too much but banksticks simply won’t do, what you need is the Specialist tripod. It houses three fully adjustable legs that extend from 30 to 58 centimetres but will also accommodate the outer section of any Cygnet Specialist storm poles for a much greater level of elevation. Weighing a very modest 400g this is a ridiculously lightweight product that’s been designed with stability and versatility firmly in mind. This is the perfect item for either fishing on hard surfaces, roving situations and offers you the ability to take awesome self-take shots with the addition of a camera adaptor.
