Fox Submerge Sinking Braided Main Line
I have been using braided main lines as my line of choice for over two years now and when I first saw the new Fox Submerge I knew I would have to give it a test.
Available in both 25lb and 40lb breaking strains each of which can be brought on 300m or 600m spools, the Submerge is produced in a blend of dark camo patterns that will help break up the outline over various lakebed varieties.
What immediately stood out when I was spooling my reels up was the incredibly thin diameter with relation to breaking strain. At a mere 0.16mm for 25lb and a smidgen thicker 0.20mm for 40lb this was a line I knew would be suited to both boating and casting alike. Since spooling up I have managed to cast in excess of 130 yards with the 25lb version and I am by no means a casting specialist.
With an almost waxy coating and flat profile the abrasion resistance really surprised me for such a fine diameter and out performed a few firm favourites when tested directly. As the name suggests, it sinks like a brick which on previous braided main lines has been somewhat of a grey area when trying to produce a casting line that will hug the contours of the lakebed when needed. I have enjoyed using this line to date and look forward to testing it further.
Dan Murrell’s verdict
One of the best braided main lines I have ever used.
