Do You Know The Carp Scene?
If Carlsberg did fishing tackle shops, they’d probably look something like this… Okay, so that’s a bit of a humorous way to look at it, but take it from us that when we visited Carp Scene in Somercotes, Derbyshire, it was a revelation. “Parking out the back, the first thing you notice is the awesome mural on the main wall, but it’s when you walk into the shop itself that it really impresses,” Editor Marc explains.
“I haven’t seen a shop so well presented in a very long time. Granted, it’s new, but the place is immaculate and the unique mezzanine-type stand through the centre of the shop itself really catches the eye. This is a clever idea, using loads of space that would otherwise be dead, and currently it has the range of Nash shelters adorning it.
“I took several walks round the place and still felt I could have done several more tours before seeing everything. All of the top brands are present; in fact, it’s almost exclusively marquee brands in Carp Scene. I’ve got a handful of shops where I could spend all day, and now I have one more.”
Marc has a point, the place is packed with top-end tackle and there is so much to look at, including over a dozen bivvies set up, rods, reels, stacks of luggage, a huge terminal-tackle wall and a very impressive clothing section.
For those of you who like to actually visit a shop and not do all of your shopping online, this one is well worth a visit.
Keep an eye on its Facebook page as well for up-to-date info on open days and much more.
