Williams Banks Millstone Record
Taska ace fools monster mirror!
Taska-backed ace Keith Williams has banked his personal-best carp, in the shape of a 73lb mirror.
The monster fish was caught on a blowback rig, with a 14mm Mainline boilie on the hook.
The fish also set a new carp record for the prolific French water, Millstone Pool.
Keith explained: “At the start of the week the weather didn't look good with cold temperatures at night, sunny weather during the days and a cold northerly wind blowing.
"Feeding slowly, the first night I had a few liners and heard of a few fish coming out at the opposite end of the lake. Monday night greeted me with a hard frost, but I knew Tuesday the weather was going to change. On Tuesday morning my right-hand rod gave me two bleeps on my siren bite alarm with the rod tip just moving, so I struck and landed my first fish of 37lb 10oz.
"It was another 24 hours before I had another very small indication, which resulted in a 4lb mirror. The next day I had a 34lb mirror and a 40lb mirror.
"With low pressure moving in, I increased my feeding on Wednesday night. Temperatures on Thursday hit 30 degrees, and with that I was confident that the carp were going to feed in a more confident mood!
"Soon after it started to rain and I managed a run of 20lb fish.
"As the rain eased, my right-hand rod gave me a good run. At first the carp didn't really move and I thought it was another twenty. It swam under a tree to the left-hand side of me, so I started to put more pressure on the fish and within 10 minutes the water boiled and my friend warned me that it is massive so be careful. Even then I thought it was a high forty but it turned and we could see that it was the big girl. Once in the landing net I tried to lift it and nearly fell in the water!
"The fish was caught on a blowback rig using the new Taska Baseline Aligners, with Baseline tungsten 6mm bead placed an inch from a Fang X size 7 barbless hook. Hook bait was a 14mm Mainline boilie tipped with a third of a 10mm pineapple boilie.
"So far this year in France I have now had 19 carp over 40lb with this my new personal best. Tipping the scales to 73lb, and coming from a lake that is special to me, it was a truly awesome moment!”
