IAN RUSSELL ON… FISHING IN FRANCE

IAN RUSSELL is a veteran of fishing abroad but what it is that appeals so much, where does he go and how does he approach each trip? We met up with him to find out…

So, Ian, how many times have you been to France now, and is it a yearly thing?

Blimey, over 40 times for sure, maybe even more like 50. I love it and now make up to five trips every year.

When Sticky Went To France…

DAN WILDBORE ventured to the South of France to the mighty Cassien, where he and friends enjoyed plenty of success on the famous 1,300-acre-plus lake…

Being totally honest, the idea of fishing in France had never appealed to me. My holiday time is valuable, like all of us, and I wanted to spend the few weeks I had going away with my girlfriend or mates. If I were to take holiday for fishing, I would much prefer to do it in the UK.

Les Jours Le Lettre Rouge (Red-Letter Days)

Craig Mortimer reflects on an unforgettable trip to a special water in France, which threw up captures the like of which threw up captures the likes of which many of us can only dream of...

While I sit here writing about this particular holiday in France this year, it still gives me a massive buzz and gets me excited for next year's return.

The Roamer

The mission was to travel across several continents in search of carp, all while filming an epic DVD with pal Harry Charrington. How would our Roamer mark Pitchers fare?

All the tackle had been prepped, the filming equipment had been checked and double-checked, and I had more paperwork, permits and documents than a UN Arms Trade Treaty.

Is This The Ultimate Method?

John Kneebone loves the Method and reckons it's not only a fast and extremely easy style of fishing but it can be absolutely devasting. It's not just a small-fish tactic either!

There are always so many new ideas and styles of fishing for carp being brought forward that we are really spoilt for choice when it comes to kit and advice on using it.

When The Going Gets Tough...

Bright sunny days and extreme heat can often have you tirelessly wandering around trying to net a carp, but it is far from a lost cause!

We have all been there, you booked the time off work and cleared it with the other half and got the all clear to go fishing for a few days.

WIN A Trakker SLX V2 Bivvy

We have the two-man version up for grabs, including winter wrap as part of the deal!

So many anglers travelling to France prefer to take that extra bit of kit and often plump for a two-man bivvy and that extra room it affords them. Some may be fishing with a partner or an angling pal, and decide that sharing one ‘house’ is the way forward.
