Spending so much time on the banks, we are fortunate enough to notice certain trends and what surprised us is the amount of people not using rucksacks. Okay, so barrows have exploded on the scene but have we all forgotten just how useful a rucksack can be? Forget pushing a ton of gear around and think about reducing what you take to spend less time sorting through terminal tackle and more time putting carp on the bank. If Carlsberg did luggage, the chances are it would be labelled Aqua and with two awesome rucksacks in the exciting new Black Series range, we thought we would take a closer look. Built from the ever-trusty Endura fabric, with reinforced base and straps, both items are built with longevity in mind.

This has to be one of the most complete luggage systems ever, with a huge combination of modular combinations available. Each piece is designed with one or more of the others in mind, with several smaller items combining with the larger ones to create the ultimate luggage ‘system’. Total Carp is the first magazine to receive the entire set and we’ve been hugely impressed right from the get-go. As you’d expect from Aqua, quality is in abundance, with the trusted Cordura featuring throughout.

I wrote about this rucksack a month or two after first receiving it and I talked about my never-ending search for the perfect bag. I’d tried loads of carryalls and rucksacks and none had really stayed in my possession, with the exception of an original Trakker Armo many moons ago. I still own that, but it’s collecting dust in my loft because it became too big once I stopped taking so much stuff fishing with me!Now, having used this one for well over a year (albeit not exactly my busiest year in fishing terms) I absolutely love it. The compact nature removes the temptation for me to take more than I need, yet what I do take fits comfortably inside the two separate compartments and outer pockets.

This style of rod holdall is becoming more and more in vogue, and for good reason. Being able to store multiple rods inside one sleeve, all together, but with good all-round protection is the holy grail when it comes to rod bags, and these tick all of those boxes. Old-fashioned rod holdalls are exactly that, old fashioned, but many anglers don’t like the alternative quiver-style bags because rod protection isn’t at its best. The triple sleeve, in Aqua’s case called the Tristar, isn’t a compromise between the two; it takes the best features of each and combines them.

Compact rucksack with a multitude of uses, such as stalking, carrying spare clothing or as a short-session bag. As the name suggests, the ‘urban’ design makes it perfect for general use away from fishing too. For more information go to: www. aquaproducts.

Aquiver system remains the preferred mode of rod transport for many anglers, largely thanks to its adaptability and versatility. Storing up to five made-up rods on external, padded sleeves, and with room in the central body for a small-to-medium-sized shelter or brolly, the Avid Transit Quiver ticks all the boxes required of such a system. The main body is made from hard-wearing material and immediately feels robust and built to last. There are both Velcro loops for attaching rods without the use of sleeves, or clips for attaching the proprietary padded sleeves.
