I was asked recently which cool bag I used. The answer is this ESP one – the smaller version of two available. It’s compact, lightweight and big enough to cope with the food and drink that I would normally take on a day or two-day session. Any longer and I keep an Icey-Tek cool box in the boot of my car, but otherwise this is fine.

The new rod transportation system from ESP is as practical as it is protective. Utilising durable and hard-wearing materials, the system is both lightweight and compact without compromising on its strength or capacity. The quiver features a spacious pocket for the rod butt, which offers protection along the blank up to the reel seat, and the tip of the rod is secured via a Velcro/webbing strap. A chunky and durable zip allows easy access to the accommodating central compartment that is perfectly designed for a bulkier shelter, as opposed to the traditional quivers only taking thin, small, umbrella-like shelters.

When it comes to tackle I wouldn’t say I was that hard to please. I like simple, efficient and something that will last. Having used this quiver and sleeve for well over a month, and a fair few sessions, I can say that it is currently ticking all the boxes. As with most quivers, the simplistic design makes it perfect for me, saving room when loading the car.

There’s a fair bit of banter flies around in the TC office and, after a few weeks of using this bag I was the butt of a lot of it. The issue, you see, was that I apparently kept “banging on about a bucket in a bag” and a few of the lads wondered how I could be getting so excited about what seems a relatively simple item of luggage. Well, you know when something just absolutely suits your style of fishing and you become attached to it? I’m exactly like this with the Bucket Carryall. I’ve already mentioned elsewhere in these tackle pages that I fish a lot with solid PVA bags and, as such, this carryall acts as the perfect tool for the job.

Following on from the extremely successful launch of the Camolite luggage range, the boys behind Fox are proud to release several new additions, from simple but necessary small accessory pouches all the way through to a feature-packed large ruckall. We thought we would look further into the Low Level products because these are designed to easily slip under your bedchair, allowing you to maximise space when out on the bank. Priced at £64. 99, the Low Level Carryall is simply, as the name suggests, a low-profile carryall system to accommodate tackle items.

Large cool-bag system packed with useful components and with ample room for food, cooking gear and other items. Featuring a foil inner to keep food and drink cool and fresh, as well as twin end pockets, there’s also two insulated drinks-bottle holders. The large front pocket boasts full stainless-steel cutlery sets, plates and useful tubs. This is all the food bag that you’ll ever need.

I am very precious about my fishing kit, especially the more expensive stuff, so I keep my alarms in one of these bags. Inside there are ample compartments and fixings to keep my alarms, bars and bobbin collection (I have a bit of a thing about bobbins) safe from harm. I use the standard version and keep a two-rod setup inside. Bigger buzz bars will probably see the need for the XL version.

Having seen Ian Chillcott using one of these a few months back I had to get one in for test. Essentially, it boasts three compartments, one of which is foil lined to keep bait fresh. This side also has a removable pouch for cleaning. I’ve taken this out because I have a separate bait bucket, but the rest of the bag is filled with all the gear that I need for day and overnight trips.

These carryalls from Fox’s Specialist range house a black, rectangular Fox bucket, which can obviously be removed and replaced. Two sizes are available – 12 and 16 litre. Multiple pockets abound, including ones dedicated for Fox’s F Boxes. Great short-session bag or suits the mobile angler.

Ideal bag for most anglers’ use, this has sufficient capacity for short to medium sessions. Unless you take the kitchen sink, then this should suffice. It’s very well made and feels durable. Multiple compartments for varied storage options.
