Bait

By no stretch of the imagination am I a big boilie angler, due to cost, not through choice, I hasten to add.
To give these a fair test I thought I would use them in my normal situations over beds of particles. However, I also wanted to give single hook baits a go because this is a method that I rarely use. The first thing I noticed was the sheer amount that you get in a pot; serious value for money.

Secondly, I was drawn to the unusual scent; it reminded me of so much but I just couldn’t pin it down and I hoped this would have a similar effect on a carp’s inquisitive nature. I have used them on four sessions and I have caught each time. The last time I fished with two rods, one with corn and a Signature pop-up on the other. The corn went multiple times, whereas the Signature pop-up only went once.

However, the carp that fell to the pop-up was a new PB common at 26lb 7oz, while the corn only produced small to upper doubles. Coincidence or not, I can’t help but feel that my confidence is growing in these baits and I look forward to keeping using them.
