Sticky The Krill

I have lost count of how many baits I have tested in almost 12 years of working on the DHP carp titles, but it’s well into the hundreds, and every now and then I take one out that immediately impresses.
Previous examples have included Mainline’s Cell, CC Moore’s Live System and Nash’s Amber Strawberry, all of which have also stood the test of time since my initial reviews. I’ve just added another bait to this illustrious list – The Krill.

It’s been talked about for a very long time and many of the Sticky anglers have had some impressive results on it, but it was only this spring that I managed to get my hands on some to put through its paces. I’ve now watched carp in three very different waters instantly accept it and polish off every last bait that I’ve introduced.

In a fishing scenario it’s also produced for me on my very first trip using it. Having prebaited a margin spot the night before, I revisited and fished that same spot. I introduced no more bait but noted fish regularly visiting the area, almost certainly wanting to find more having eaten all I’d put in the previous evening. I lowered a paste-wrapped boilie on to the spot and within a few minutes had a low-twenty common to my name, which passed lots of the bait on the mat. What’s more, I watched it pick up the bait, bolt off and then give a great account of itself in the clear water – easily my favourite way of catching carp.

Without going into too much detail about The Krill’s contents, I like the fact that it’s really soft and smells as carpy as it gets, although the overriding aroma is more meaty than krill. I’m immediately sold on it because the carp’s reaction has answered all the questions I could ask. This is as impressed as I have been with a bait for a very long time!
