Sonubaits Code Red

The days of shelf-life baits being bullet-hard balls of nothing more than artificial flavours and very little goodness are well and truly behind us.

In recent years, several companies have upped their game with their shelf-life baits but all have done so alongside their existing frozen ranges. Sonubaits has gone one step further in launching only a shelf-life boilie. With Code Red being its first foray into the carp-boilie market some would say this is a gamble. Nevertheless, Sonu’s Ian Day and the guys behind the bait are supremely confident about its ability to catch carp and, importantly, be accepted as a food source, which has always been the downfall of shelfies.

Having had some experience of Code Red through its testing period, and having also been privy to some fantastic captures by Ian Russell and Chris Lowe, among others, I can vouch for its effectiveness.

Sales of the bait are already flying, so the angling public are certainly putting their faith in it, and why not? A quality bait, packed with great ingredients, with a lovely texture and aroma… and no need for a freezer.

With pop-ups, wafters, pellets, bag mix and three sizes of boilies, it’s a comprehensive range as well. I believe there is also an oily dip in production, which should be interesting. I also like the fact that every bag of boilies comes with a free tub of pop-ups, although the 1.75kg bags might take a bit of getting used to for some anglers.
