New Dr Weils product helps protect fish from disease.
Dr Weils, maker of a hand and surface sanitiser for people, has come up with a product aimed at protecting carp and specimen fish, too.

Carp Skin is claimed to be an advanced, safe and cost-effective method of treating wounds and abrasions on fish, on the bank.

Users just dry the affected area with a clean cloth, then spray on the antibacterial, pharmaceutical-grade film skin.

After 45 seconds, which lets the formula dry and form a transparent waterproof skin, the fish can be returned to the water.

The makers claim that Carp Skin will protect the fish from further infection and cross-contamination and promote healing, gradually breaking down and washing off over two days without leaving a trace.

The spray has been developed and made in the UK, and is said to have advantages over other application methods, mainly avoiding cross-contamination and reducing the amount of time that a fish is handled out of the water.
