British Carp Angling Show This Weekend!
Extreme weather conditions in Norfolk meant that the British Carp & Angling Show, which was supposed to run in January, had to be rescheduled - the good news is, it is running this weekend, 16th-17th March 2013. The organisers explained: "We will be honouring all past tickets and vouchers at the new event. Much of our line-up will remain the same with Nash and Korda confirming their attendance once again, John Wilson and Bob Nudd are still on our celebrity guest list. We will also be running the Grand Raffle, Rigging Clinic, Casting Area, Bivvy Zone, Bait Kitchen and much more to keep visitors busy.
Cast Northwest Unveils UK’s First Indoor Fishery!
The UK’s first indoor fishery has been opened by Lancashire based angling charity, Cast Northwest. The venue, which is housed inside a giant greenhouse, provides the charity with the facilities that it needs to teach children about the art of angling in all weathers. The venue was the brainchild of project co ordinator, Neil Farnworth, who has been using his scheme to help children who have dropped out of full time education for the past seven years. The indoor lake is the latest part of the project, and allows Neil and his term to continue their good work, even in inclement weather conditions.

Belgian ace Dennis Hellings has signed for top English carp firm, Taska. The 24 year old ace has a PB of a massive 67lb 7oz, and classes park lakes as being among his favourite venues. He explained: “I started fishing together with my dad when I was just five years old.
Star studded team to compete in World Carp Classic!
Solar Tackle will be going for gold in the 2013 World Carp Classic as the entry of Team Solar was been confirmed yesterday. Former World record holder Martin Locke, owner and founder of Solar Tackle, will be leading the team paired with Tom Duncan Dunlop, who has won the WCC previously taking gold in 2009 at Lac de Madine and was part of the winning team in the 2007 and 2008 events. Fishing with them will be experienced carp-match anglers Colin Gray and Dan Moorecroft along with former carp-angling guide Dave Waite and one of the UK’s best carp anglers, Nick Helleur. Having competed at Lake Bolsena in last year’s event, Martin and Tom know exactly what’s needed at Bolsena and preparations have already begun.

The UK-based company has teamed up with Canada's leading carp fishing outlet, Carp Kit, and the world's largest free online carp fishing competition, TOKS, to help with product distribution and marketing in the US and Canada. Two new signings for carp firm. Carp giants, Taska have announced that two young junior anglers will be joining their ranks. The first signing is 16 year old Scunthorpe junior, Tommi Jackson. Tommi started fishing at the age of five, following in the footsteps of his dad - himself a successful angler, with UK fish to 58lb 6oz.
Solar boss joins prestigious clubFounder and owner of Solar Tackle, Martin Locke, has been inducted into carp fishing’s hall of fame for his services to carp fishing. Presented with his certificate at the 2013 Carpin’ On show by Tim Paisley, himself a hall of fame member, Martin’s name now appears in the history books alongside many of carp fishing most important figures including Richard Walker, Rod Hutchinson, Jack Hilton, Pete Springate and Terry Hearn to name but a few. Martin first hit the headlines in the 1980s with the capture of Sally, a 39lb common from Savay, the picture of which is still used as the Solar logo today. Landing his first fifty, the famous Chop Dorsal, from a day-only Hertfordshire Club Water in in December 1994, Martin went on to land the colossal common known as Benson before landing a world record in the form of a 94lb mirror in 2010 and landing his 100th 50lb+ carp in 2012, Martin’s angling career alone is enough to warrant entry into the history books.
