We attended the annual Nash Trade show at its headquarters today. As usual the company had plenty to show us and there were some real jewels among its new roster of products. Firstly, the Double Top Apex bivvy has been causing quite a stir on social media with its interesting shape and features. Like the double tops of recent years it has a lot to offer the angler that wants to be comfortable on the bank no matter the weather.

Much is written about Mainline’s legendary boilies, including such greats as Grange, Activ-8 and, currently, Cell, which have dominated waters for many years. However, browse the Essex-based company’s website and you will see that there is so much more to the Mainline range than just boilies. One area where there is a huge selection of bait-boosting products is liquids. One of my personal favourites is Hempseed Oil.

TC reader Greg Pittam says: "I don’t fish waters with any really big carp in but holding dial scales with my thumb, even on double-figure carp, is still a bit of a pain. This problem has been solved with the use of this weigh bar and now weighing carp of any size is a doddle. "There are chunky foam-type handles for comfort and the karabina-type clip secures the scales in place. "Lifting the carp and sling is now effortless and I get no shaking anymore, so it’s also easier to get a correct reading.

The first sight we were greeted with at the Pure Fishing press day was the huge bivvy city that dominated the middle of the showroom. Top carp angler and media manager for Pure Fishing Ed Betteridge talked Total Carp Editor Marc Coulson through the new 2015 releases, including stopping on the new JRC Stealth Bloxx bivvy. Made from durable materials and great value for money, it will be released in Autumn 2015. .

Following the popularity of the Carp Care Cradle, Chub has brought to the market a revamped, and restyled version that is sure to be a success. The new Xtra Protection Cradle now has a unique construction allowing the whole product to fold flat, minimising space required for storage and when in transit. The padded restraining sides have been made stiffer, ensuring maximum protection is offered from all sides. As you would expect, the internal mat is exceptionally well padded for complete support and carp safety.

Greys ProTeam Member Dave Moore has recently returned from a trip to Euro Aqua in Hungary. During his manic fortnight session, Dave landed 30 fish over 50lb, including 17 over 60lb! Five of which were over 69lb! Dave described his trip as “a session of a lifetime”, which must be one of the best-ever hauls by a British angler. Dave’s biggest fish of the trip tipped the scales at over 71lb and was his second 70-plus fish of the session. Dave’s fishing partner Steve Weir also has a similar number of fish over the 60lb bracket, to complete a phenomenal haul from the double swim.
