Win! The Nation's Favourite Hooks

They're the biggest-selling hooks in carp fishing and we have just about the entire range to give away, courtesy of Korda.
Every Christmas we bring you at least one mega comp and this year we've partnered up with Korda to offer 12 lucky TC readers a huge array of its brilliant hooks, enough to cover all situations for a season or more of carp fishing.

Since launching the original and awesome Wide Gape and Longshank in 2002, Korda's hook range has expanded to include patterns that are specific to certain modern presentations, as well as versatile go-anywhere patterns.

Each is finished superbly with sharp points and Teflon coating and many of the country's top anglers put their faith in them for all of their fishing. That's testament indeed to the quality and versatility of the range but, what's more, they sell by the thousand to the angling public, making them the nation's favourite carp hooks.

As mentioned, the Wide Gape and Longshank X form the basis of the initial range and they remain firm favourites of many anglers. In fact, the Wide Gape, especially, is so versatile that if you were only allowed to use one pattern of hook this would probably have to be it. The Wide Gape X is a newer version of this but in a slightly stronger wire, ideal for heavier-duty fishing. Similarly, the Kontinental is another beefed-up hook, which copes with the pressure of a hard fight with big carp and is often the hook of choice for overseas trips too.

Last summer saw a boom in popularity for another of Korda's hook patterns, the Mixa, which is designed for surface fishing but also proves to be a versatile pop-up and bottom-bait option. With its fine but relatively strong wire it's ideally suited to delicate presentations.

A hugely fashionable rig in the last year or two has been the chod and Korda's Choddy hook is specifically designed for it, with an out-turned eye, progressive shank and beaked point making it the hook of choice for many chod users.

This year saw the launch of the intriguing Krank, with its overtly curved design catching the imagination of anglers the nation over. It certainly is a novel design, but the potential hook-holds that can be achieved are incredible. As well as the original, two other patterns make up the mini
range, namely the Krank Choddy and Krank Kontinental, each of which is similar in nature to the other patterns of the same name but in the curved Krank format.

So, there you have it, a hugely comprehensive range of hooks and one that literally covers every possible fishing scenario. We have packets of each of these patterns, in a selection of the more popular sizes and with some barbless versions up for grabs in our easy-to-enter Christmas giveaway. A dozen winners will each receive a prize bundle of 13 different patterns and styles of Korda hooks, enough to keep you fishing effectively for a very long time indeed. Good luck!
