What's Your Flavour?

Question: Hi team when i go fishing i take too many different baits i can never settle on one bait and get confidence in it so this season i have decided to use one flavour boilie to focus on which do you recommend. Thanks guys. Nathan Harrison via e-mail

Total Carp editor Marc Coulson says: That’s an easy one to answer, but also the most difficult. Let me explain... Yes, choose a bait and stick to it. Build up your confidence and you will not need to keep swapping and changing. We’re sent loads of bait on a regular basis to review in our magazines, and often fall into the trap of trying a new one each week! Our own fishing can suffer in a strange way as we never get into a routine of using one bait and using it properly. So, choose a good quality boilie (I’d recommend one where you can get matching pop-ups, dips and suchlike) and stick to it.

Now, as for which one to use, you must understand that I am in a tricky position as I cannot recommend one company’s boilies for fear of retribution from all of the others. Equally, I will not tell lies. There are genuinely a lot of very good baits out there these days. You can opt for the really big ones with a track record, such as Mainline, Nash, CCMoore, Richworth, Dynamite and a host of others. There are also the companies who are fairly well-known and who turn out very good baits, such as Baitcraft, Baitworks, Steamies, Chapel Baits and suchlike. Finally, there are lots of much smaller companies like Cheshire Baits, Carp Catchers and many many more. Too many to list in fact, but they all produce baits that I would have confidence in using.
