Lee Jackson’s verdict - Plenty of features and what a bargain! 3. 5/5
Tackle Box’s Lee Jackson says: When we were first shown these alarms and the receiver we couldn’t believe what we were hearing – £13. 99 for a remote alarm and £13. 99 for a receiver to go with it, that adds up to just over £55 for three heads and a receiver, that’s absolutely amazing value!
The alarm has adjustable volume and tone control, a night light function, detachable snag ears and is available with either a red, white, blue or purple LED.
After being the sole worldwide distributor for the very cult Advanced Tackle Technology bite alarm manufacturers, we are happy to relay that Gardner has recently announced the acquisition of the innovative company.
With a small, compact and silent alarm head, the ATTs are ideal for the angler wanting to keep quiet on the bank while offering unrivalled weather protection and incredible receiver range. Following on from the phenomenal popularity that the earlier models saw, the team didn’t rest on its laurels and now offers a fully illuminated roller wheel version.
Plus, for the tackle tarts among us, a very different looking crystal version.

If you are after a complete bite indictor setup and you want to get your money’s worth then look no further. Utilising a number of new technologies, Avid Carp has brought a bobbin bundle to the market to help you stay in control of whichever fishing scenario you may find yourself in.
Each pack comes complete with two Line Grippers, one featuring the unique Yin-Yang ball clip, which is perfectly suited to fishing slack lines, as well as a more traditional-style ball clip. There are also two bodies, a smaller style and a much larger one for when long-range fishing.
Bite alarms are an essential item of all carp anglers’ tackle and have always been an area in which to avoid the cheaper varieties. However, JRC is changing all that by offering affordable, all-weather alarms fit for use and backed with a two-year warranty.
With three models in the Radar C range, prices begin at a mere £19. 99 and go up to £34.
Cygnet Tackle is fast becoming recognised as an authoritative figure in bankware, but what was missing? Bite indication.
Well, after plenty of persuasion, Cygnet has finally revealed its plans to bring a range of bite indication products to the market with Mark Walters, the man behind the famous and prestigious Muddy Waters range.
The Clingas are available in a multitude of sizes to suit each angler’s preference and, of course, individual fishing scenarios.
From the ultra-sensitive and lightweight Old Skool variety, which scores exceptionally well with slack-line anglers and anyone in the ‘Carpy’ fraternity, moving up in size is the still small but superb Clinga Lite, an all-rounder for the majority of fishing, and the Dumpy Clinga, two of the most popular versions you will see gracing the bank.
Oh, finally, there’s an internal LED, which lights up and is available in all of the Delkim colours. I genuinely can’t wait to use these on a more long-term basis because I think they’re absolutely spot-on and cannot speak highly enough of them at this early stage. (MC)As much as I will admit to being a bit of a tackle tart, I always place a product’s functionality over what it looks like, as I explained to somebody on Instagram recently when they said these didn’t look very carpy. The mind boggles.
A brand-new range from JRC encompasses three affordable, weatherproof alarms designed specifically for the modern-day carp angler. The introductory Radar C1 is the cheapest alarm in the range at a mere £19. 99. Housed in a durable, high-impact, ABS material, these reliable units feature bright red LEDs with a 20-second latching feature.
The super-compact body of the S5 is similar in appearance to Nash’s more expensive, all-singing, all-dancing alarm, but features just an on/off switch. It also has a built-in line guard and red run and latching LED. I found, in testing, that the indication was superb, especially for an alarm in this price bracket. There is a remote version available (£49.
First impressions were that they look great in their waterproof casing, which has been subject to some extremely harsh rainfall and even a brief dip in the margin, yet the alarms continues to work with no problem whatsoever. The heads are simple in design, with two dials, one for volume and the other for tone, allowing the head to be set to silent and only the receiver will alert you to any activity, which is great for when you want to be discreet, as discreet as you can be with the bright blue LED. The power switch operates as the sensitivity function, giving the choice of two settings, which has been more than ample for the scenarios that I have been fishing in. For ease, and being a little bit lazy, I like to keep my alarms attached to my banksticks.
The new Centium DFXs offer you the opportunity to upgrade your bite alarms without breaking the bank. As you would expect, they boast a string of great features. Five-point sensitivity settings, volume and tone allow you to personalise the alarms to your situation. Each one is supplied with optional interchangeable light filter so that you can change the LED to any colour that you wish.

I have been using the TF Gear Dave Lane Mag Runner alarms for a little over three months and it’s so far so good. The set comprises three alarms and a receiver unit and what fantastic value for money it is. I like simplicity when it comes to alarms because simplicity works and there’s not a lot that can go wrong. Each alarm has an on/off switch; bright, luminous roller wheel and a switch to link up with the receiver.
