Piper's Glory

57lb monster for Splashbaits consultant.
Splashbaits European consultant, Darrell Piper enjoyed a French trip to remember lately banking a massive 57lb rarely caught mirror. The Swedish rod explained: "I visited a lake in France, called Moorlands Fisheries, which is known for its hard fighting fish, quality fish.

These fish are fished for by many top anglers so catching one of its gems was a challenge I relished. After setting up and placing the ever faithful Splashbaits out with a mixture of ultra pellet - my hopes were high. I had to wait until the third day for a bite - but I was pleased to land a 43lb mirror on the Assassin hookbait.
Rig wise,  a combi rig and a very light lead in conjunction with very slack lines and Flurocarbon to help sink the line tight to the bottom.

After seeing a big fish landed to another angler, I decided to place in three kilos of different sized Splash Baits Factor 7 boilies of different sizes and 3 kilo of ultra pellet in a tight area, and fish a critically balanced snowman over the top.

I then decided to glug the bait to give it an extra edge. To cut a long strong short -  I had a one toner on the Delkim and instantly knew I was into a big fish - staying low and thumping. After a 15 minutes battle, the lovely gem came perfectly into the net and I knew it was a big 50.

Using the tripod and digitals we weighed her at 57lb exactly. This was a known fish but rarely gets caught. The tight baiting and rig gave me an edge but more importantly the fish couldn't resist the Splashbait factor. 7!
