Wychwood | Epic Tactical Bivvy

With the demand for quick erect bivvy systems being at an all time high, it was no surprise to hear that Wychwood has been working on its very own, and the result is a thing of beauty! The Epic Tactical Bivvy is a high spec, fully versatile and affordable bivvy system, which is exactly what every angler needs to combat any environment in all weather conditions. To say this bivvy is feature packed would be an understatement but despite this, the bivvies are lightest Wychwood has ever made.

There are two different sizes of shelter to choose from, the Epic Tactical Compact and the Epic Tactical. When erect, the latter measures 290cm wide, 240 high and 150cm deep, whereas the Compact measures 240cm wide, 195cm high and 130cm deep. The larger of the two is the perfect choice for use all year round, to take anywhere, whether that be venues at home or trips abroad. Whichever size of bivvy is chosen, both are designed to provide full coverage and protection with the installation of a fully integrated peak and integrated rain guttering system.

A pivoting lever cam feature allows for the super-fast set-up and pack-away times, which with practice can be achieved in literally seconds. Operating the lever controls the opening or closure of the five-rib aluminium frame, which makes full use of new anti-twist joint connections. There has also been a conscious to increased usable internal space and the additional generous headroom is most welcome.

Wychwood has continued to use the most durable of materials for the construction of the Epic Tactical Bivvies, with a monster 20,000mmm waterproof yet relatively lightweight fabric.

Air flow was also a top priority when designing this shelter, where there are two large windows placed on the rear. Letter box styled zippers aid air flow in combination with privacy mosquito mesh. It is also possible to swap the fronts on each bivvy, with either a mozzy or solid infill front. Additionally, extra storage is supplied via two internal twin mesh pockets, which can be positioned on the side and rear walls of the shelter. An included hang hook can used to hang a receiver or bivvy lamp, where on the outside Velcro rod restraints secure your expensive setups.

However, that is not all as every bivvy is supplied in its own bivvy carry bag, along with a beautiful heavy duty zipped groundsheet, peg set, quarter cap and tension straps. The entirety of the contents weighs just 11.60kg for the Compact version, whereas the slightly larger system weighs 14.30kg. When all is considered, this shelter is a truly impressive piece of kit that will provide bankside comfort and protection by the bucketload!
