New Kit From Avid Carp

Intelligent touches and smart insights in a new range of product from the Avid brand.

Tackle brand Avid Carp has announced a number of new products set to hit the shops before Christmas.

Including new bivvies, brollies, accessories and some clever little pieces of terminal tackle, Total Carp were invited to take a sneak peak at what’s going to be on offer, with Avid’s own Jon ‘Shoes’ Jones and Ian Russell talking us through the new kit.

Bivvies and Brollies
A number of new shelters are on their way from Avid. Ranging from the monstrous Euro 2 designed for long stay foreign trips, to the Ascent 60inch oval brolly. What really caught our eye though was the Alpine 60inch oval brolly, for three reasons.
With fiberglass ribs it’s lightweight, and its Dura Stop ripstop material looks super tough, but the highlight was the fact that it’s completely free standing. Just pop it up, chuck it down and the built in stability rods swing out and keep it up – no need to mess around with storm poles.

Accessories
Avid’s new range of carp care kit includes a complete unhooking, weighing and retaining system.
The zip-less weigh sling uses magnets to lock the top bars together, a retaining sling employing the same technology but at the heart is the Carp Couch.
Basically a raised, framed unhooking mat the design of the Carp Couch puts the carp at an optimum height for you to unhook and control it in safety. With a concertina frame, the couch folds down for transit and at 125cm by 84cm it’s big enough for the largest of carp. We’re also informed a smaller version is also in the pipeline.

Luggage
As well as a range of smart new bags, carryalls and pouches, Avid are releasing a brand new quiver system.
Based around the Transit Quiver base, the system allows anglers to mix and match a number of new sleeves – padded, three quarter and rain - as well as use other brands’ sleeves. Featuring a number of intelligent touches, the quiver can be bought a complete set with five sleeves, or just as the base unit.

Terminal Tackle
Some nice little additions with a bit of intelligence behind them include a range of new floating boilie stops and inline lead inserts with in-built tubing grips. One of the smarter bits we noticed though was the zig clip. Designed specifically for fishing the zig, the clip can be fished without a tailrubber instead using a plastic tag on the barrel to let you use PVA tape to hold the lead in place on the cast. On the take with the PVA dissolved the lead will always come free, meaning you don’t have a lead swinging all over the place as yo try and net a fish on a long zig hooklength.
