Massive Winter Carp Haul

Popular day-ticket water produces huge 1200lb catch over two days' fishing.

A massive haul of winter carp totaled over 1200lb from 90 runs has been taken at one of the country’s most popular day-ticket venues.

Two anglers made the stunning catch, believed to be the biggest ever recorded during the winter months, from top day-ticket venue Richworth Linear Fisheries over a two day session.

Mike Loftus and Andy Bailey were targeting the carp the venue’s Brasenose One water, landing over 70 fish to 31lb 5oz after fishing a back-to-basics approach of small boilies over a bed of pellet and corn.

The amazing session was the biggest winter haul of carp ever taken from the Oxfordshire venue, as Linear’s head Bailiff Roy Parsons explains.

“It’s just amazing for this time of year to see that amount of fish being caught,” Roy told Total Carp. “The carp seem to be shoaled up down the one end of the water with the first three pegs as you come to the lake being the ones that are producing the fish. Mike and Andy couldn’t keep their rods in the water after they got their baits out, it was just incredible.

“Another guy also had another good two day session afterwards and caught 35 fish to 34lb 8oz,” Roy continued. “The complex is actually very quiet at the moment because everyone’s doing Christmas stuff, but with sport like this on offer these guys that are here are making the most of it.”
