Locke In Hall Of Fame!

Solar boss joins prestigious club
Founder and owner of Solar Tackle, Martin Locke, has been inducted into carp fishing’s hall of fame for his services to carp fishing.

Presented with his certificate at the 2013 Carpin’ On show by Tim Paisley, himself a hall of fame member, Martin’s name now appears in the history books alongside many of carp fishing most important figures including Richard Walker, Rod Hutchinson, Jack Hilton, Pete Springate and Terry Hearn to name but a few.

Martin first hit the headlines in the 1980s with the capture of Sally, a 39lb common from Savay, the picture of which is still used as the Solar logo today.

Landing his first fifty, the famous Chop Dorsal, from a day-only Hertfordshire Club Water in in December 1994, Martin went on to land the colossal common known as Benson before landing a world record in the form of a 94lb mirror in 2010 and landing his 100th 50lb+ carp in 2012, Martin’s angling career alone is enough to warrant entry into the history books.

He has also been at the forefront of tackle innovation since the 1980s, founding Solar Tackle in 1986 and going on to engineer some of the sports most famous products, and develop some of carp fishing's most consistent and effective big-carp baits, Martin’s contributions to angling further cement his place in carp fishing’s hall of fame.
