Lewis Harmes Reviews The Fox Rangemaster Carbon Stick

I have been using the Fox Rangemaster carbon throwing stick for just over a year and it’s excellent. Before I bought it I had a rather heavy plastic throwing stick, which was an absolute pain! I could only put out 1kg at most! Even then I’d end up with an aching arm the next day. Plus, when fishing heavily stocked venues with big fish in, a kilo can be cleared in minutes.

Since switching to a much lighter carbon stick baiting up is much easier, mainly because it’s so light. This means it’s much easier to put a bigger bed of bait down. With a conventional plastic throwing stick putting a few kilos out can take a fair bit of time, but with this it’s so much quicker!

Distance is also affected. Tiredness through using a plastic version means that you can sometimes be falling up to, say, 20 yards short of your required distance; not with the Rangemaster.

So what makes it so unique? One thing is its handy loading port. This makes baiting up easy and enjoyable rather than a workout. It’s just above the handle so you don’t have to bring the stick down to put a couple of boilies in, meaning you never have to take your eyes of the spot you’re fishing and you can always be on the lookout for showing fish!

This also helps with accuracy. If you aren’t always looking at the spot you can sometimes stray off to the left of right. This isn’t too bad to start with but if you stray a bit each time you could end up a fair few yards from your main area of bait.

This accuracy means that if you have a spot that’s around 15 yards wide and 20 yards long, it will take the fish much less time to find your hook bait!

The stick and handy carry case that stops the stick breaking in transit is only £69.99. This is fairly cheap for a carbon throwing stick and another thing that makes it so good!
