Kye Smashes Somerset Syndicate

Massive carp falls to Splash Baits.

Splash Baits consultant Kye Smith has taken a 29-12-0 beast from his local syndicate water, just three weeks after joining. The Exeter based rod caught the monster carp over the companies new pellet mix- a tactic he made a video demonstrating just a week before.

“I kept an eye on the weather throughout the days leading up to a session just to get an idea of what could be happening down at the lake. I chose a swim on the back of an east north east wind, and with it being a very hot day, I was sure some of the residents would be spending some time
in this area of the lake.

Upon setting the rods, I spotted a patch of fizz just a couple rod lengths from the bank and after a quick lead around with a 1oz weight, I found a lovely little gully running right through the swim.
For bait I used the Splash Bait Ultramix Pellet, Salmon Extract and crushed Factor 7 straight from the bag with matching hookbaits. With rigs done and on the spot within the first half hour, I soon had a lovely 18lb common banked. I was well happy with that, but then my runner was off again, this time something with a bit more plod in the fight. Much to my amazement, it was one of the big uns weighing 29-12-0. Careful thought had paid off, and only on my third session on this water I had caught one of the target fish.”

Kye’s catch is the latest in a long line of fish that have been falling to the bait, including several around the 30lb mark- which is big for the company’s South West catchment area.
