Anglers unite against cancer.
Two matches have been announced, to raise money for the cancer charity, Race For Life. In particular, the events are raising money for Claire Penning – the wife of Ben Penning, the brother of carp expert Adam – who is suffering from a terminal illness.

The cost for each match is £20 and all money will go to the fund set up by Ben.

Organsier, Arthur Reeve explained: "It is great how many anglers have already got behind this, keen to show support for the Penning family. When we contacted Ben, Claire's husband, about the match we asked him for a few words about Claire and we received this very touching e-mail..."

"Despite all the evil going on in the world today it appears there will always be certain individuals who are willing to help people they have never met in times of crisis.

"When I was approached by Match Aid, who offered to run these events in honour of my wife Claire to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, I was overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity.

"Claire Penning is an extraordinary woman who has spent her career helping victims of domestic abuse and has saved countless lives. She is an amazing wife, daughter, sister and an inspirational and devoted mother to our two girls, but cancer has her in its grips.

"These events will generate much-needed funds to help combat this terrible disease."

The first match is taking place at Boldings Fishery on the 26th May, and the second event is on the 22nd June at Sykehouse Fishery, near Doncaster.
