Willesley Lake is a spring-fed lake which was dug about 200 years ago as a boating lake for Willesley Hall, a large 18th Century estate owned by the Hastings family. Although trees go down to the water round much of the lake, anglers can fish from any of the the wooden platform pegs whilst bivvies can be erected either where the trees meet the pathway or just back from the water in the field along the far side of the lake from the car park entrance. As one would expect from a 24-acre lake, depths vary from very shallow to about 15 feet at the deepest point in the centre of the lake. However, for the most part depths average five to six feet until quite well out into the water whilst at the far end of both arms even shallower water can be found, which makes for good fishing in hot weather when the carp can be seen cruising the shallows.

The 4. 5-acre Islands Lake has been created with 12 swims in total; most can be used as doubles and don’t ignore the corners as these have proved very fruitful so far! The lake was designed to create your very own piece of water, with minimal angler conflict. It has many features, including six islands to fish to, massive margin lengths per swim due to the spits that separate the swims and many other nooks and crannies! Below the water line there is a deep hole in every swim going down from four to five feet to eight to nine feet with plenty of gravel spots, clay and gravel plateaus. Todber Manor is set in the heart of the Dorset countryside and is the home of some of the finest carp and coarse fishing in the south west.
