Getting Kids Hooked

New campaign is helping the future of fishing.
Tackle giant Preston Innovations’ I ♥ Fishing campaign introduced more than 30 new anglers to the sport at a special 'Have A Go Fishing' day in Stoke-on-Trent.

Working in conjunction with Staffordshire-based charity SAFE Angling & Outdoors, the brand hosted the fishing day at Moorside Fishery in Abbey Hulton, next to one of Europe’s biggest council estates.

I ♥ Fishing ambassador and TalkSport radio host Nigel Botherway was in attendance, offering angling advice and handing out prizes for top performers!

The aim was to introduce new anglers to fishing so, in conjunction with children’s charity SAFE, I ♥ Fishing leafleted more than 2,000 houses in the area, along with a number of local schools, inviting people to come along for a free day’s fishing.

SAFE brought along a dozen of its young after-school club anglers, as well as providing a number of ‘home-grown’ angling coaches and helpers.

Nigel said: “I believe that more than 30 youngsters have come along to fish today, which is a real triumph for both SAFE and the I ♥ Fishing Campaign.

“I have been extremely impressed by the guys from SAFE and Carmountside Fishing Club, as always. So many kids have gone away with happy, smiling faces and fishing memories that they’ll never forget.”

Desireé Elliott from SAFE, who helped organise the event, was delighted with the day and said: “We had our kids fishing in a two-hour match and the prizes they received from Club Korum and Preston Innovations will be treasured forever, I’m sure. Fishing has a bright future because of events like this.”
