If you are based in the East of the country then you are sure to want to know about one of the best charity carp events of 2011 that is taking place at the Nunnery Lakes (post code: IP24 2QE) near Thetford, Norfolk over the weekend of 2nd-4th September (6pm Fri-2pm Sun). There will be lots going on including a match on the prolific ‘Bob’s Lake’ with the top five placed anglers winning a prize (we have over £4,000 worth of Fox stuff to giveaway!) and there is also a prize for the biggest carp of the match too! There are just 26 places available for this match but with tickets costing just £70 (including two breakfasts, a BBQ and a hog roast) they set to be snapped up very quickly indeed, so if you are interested be sure to act fast! In addition to the match there will also be a host of other activities taking place around the fishery including a casting competition and a massive raffle with prizes donated from the likes of Fox, JRC, Korda, Dynamite, Richworth to name just a few. A number of anglers from Team Fox and Rig Morale will also be in attendance for you to come and meet and ask advice on all things carpy as well as see all of their latest and innovative products. Like we said this is one weekend you don’t want to miss because we also have a bivvy village in place, where you can spend the night so you can have a few drinks and not have to drive home.

The Angling Trust is warning all anglers NOT to buy their licence from the commercial fishingrodlicence. com web site, unless they want to pay an unnecessary extra charge of £14 for checking over their application. This service is of no real benefit to anglers because the Environment Agency (EA) does not require applications to be checked before submission. The web site has been set up this year and comes top of a Google search for "Rod Licence".
