Tackle giant creates a stir with new ultra-top-end offering...


We've been to Daiwa's trade show today and were amazed at several new items, but the headline act has to be the new BasiaZ45QDA, which will be available for a mere £999! It's similar to the Basiar but with Daiwa's unique MagSeal technology which utilises magnetic oil in completely sealed bearings. For the laymen, this makes any water or grit ingress impossible, producing from-the-box performance for the lifetime of the reel.

TC editor Marc Coulson, pictured, was blown away by how light and smooth the reel was, but joked that he'd never be able to sleep knowing that three of these were sat on his rods, out in the darkness.

"Imagine a concept car the likes of which you only see at the big car shows, but in this case you are able to actually buy it. I appreciate that only a tiny percentage of anglers will ever be able to afford one (I certainly couldn't) but if you have that sort of money to spend then it's worth it. Value is always relative to budget, I guess," he concluded.

As well performing superbly the Z45 also looks absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, with bespoke red and gunsmoke detailing throughout. Hubba hubba!
